Botanical name – Setaria italica

Description – Tufted, erect herbs with fasciculate and jointed culms. Leaves flat, linear or lanceolate. Panicles erect or nodding, bearing 2 to 4 spikelets in each involucre.

Chemical Constituents- Leaves contain coumarin setarin.

 

Use – Plant used as a sedative to the gravid uterus. Grains used in pains after parturition.
