Botanical name – Piper cubeba

Description – The drug consists of dried unripe fruits of piper cubeba Linn of the family Piperaceae. It is also called as the tailed Pepper. The roots of cubebs or the roots of black pepper are used.

Chemical Constituents- It contains essential oils with cubebin.

Use – It is used as an anti-catarrhal agent and as a Kidney stimulant. It is used in coughs, cold and bronchitis
