Botanical name – Momordica dioica

Description – Dioecious climber with tuberous roots; tendril simple. Leaves broadly ovate, 3 to 5-angled, cordate. Flowers yellow, solitary. Fruit ovoid or ellipsoid, echinate.

Chemical Constituents- Root contains traces of alkaloid. Fruit contains ascorbic acid. Seed kernel contains semi-drying oil.

Use – Roots used in bleeding piles, bowel affections and urinary complaints
