Botanical name – Aerva lanata
Description – Erect herbs or under shrubs. Leaves orbicular or obovate. Spikes clustered, axillary; flowers creamy-white.
Chemical Constituents- Plant contains tannin, which comprises Beta-sitosteryl palmitate, alpha-amyrin, Beta-sitosterol and its glucoside, betulin, alkaloid canthin-6-one and Beta-carboline.
Use – Plant used in cough, sore throat, diabetes and lithiasis. Decoction diuretic. The roots are preferred for use. It is diuretic and esteemed as a lithontriptic.
