Alkaloid magnoflorine shows hypotensive as well as curare-like effect in animals.

The rootbark contains alkaloids, in cludin toddaline, toddalinine, skim mianine The root gave coumarins, in cludin toddanol, toddanone, todda sin pimpineilin, iso-pimpinellin and
toddalolactone.
